Randall W. DeWitt (Randy) is the National Assistant Dean for the College of Media Arts & Technology, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Communication, and Graduate School of Education at DeVry University.  Randy joined DeVry University in 2009 after serving as the academic leader of the media program and visiting professor at AmericanIntercontinental University. While at DeVry University, he has developed innovative programs including the Creative Design Incubator, the University’s Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), launched WDVU DASH Radio, developed the prototype for the university’s high-tech Development Studios, and envisioned and developed the university’s iPad Kiosk system for student information and registration.  Before returning to higher education, Randy served as the education, culture, and media consultant to Dr. Leonel Fernandez, President of the Dominican Republic. While in the Dominican Republic, he established a for-profit post-secondary school, developing the curriculum, business plan, operating procedures, marketing strategy, and providing faculty training, and designing the school’s facility. As part of their contribution to the Dominican Republic, Randy served as the U.S. and International Film and Entertainment Commissioners from the Dominican Republic.  Randy is known in South Florida for his work as the Director of the School of Entertainment and Design Technology at Miami Dade College. While at Miami-Dade College, he served as the senior administrator of the school. His responsibilities included overseeing all aspects of the film, television, video, radio production, computer animation, graphic design, graphic arts, Internet design, photography technology, technical theatre, commercial music, music business, sound engineering, and sound reinforcement programs. Projects developed under his supervision or produced by the school include the Urban Entertainment Conference, the Made in Miami Film Festival, Miami International Film Festival's REEL Education Seminar Series, CableTAP -Miami's Public Access Cable Station, E-Latin Grammy Webcasts, Telemundo's Taller: Escritores, and partnerships with Indiana University Purdue School of Music and the Director's Guild of America.  During the dot com era, he gained strategic business experience under the mentorship of Mark Begelman,  former CEO of Office Depot while at Mars Music, Inc. Randy was Director of Education for Mars Music, Inc. from 1995 - 2000 and Supervisor of Music Education for Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Fine Arts Department Chair from 1987 - 1995.  Randy is degree candidate for the Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership at Northcentral University, received the Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Louisville and Master's of Science in Music Education from Florida International University where he has additionally studied advanced topics in educational leadership. With extensive experience in curriculum development and assessment, he co-authored the Florida Department of Education Music Certification Exam as a consultant to the Institute for Instructional Research and Practice at the University of South Florida and co-authored for the Bose Corporation the "In Harmony with Education" curriculum.  In 1999, Randy was invited to participate as a committee member, contributing writer, and presenter on the landmark MENC: Vision 2020 Housewright Symposium. While at Mars Music, Inc., Randy oversaw 50 schools of music, 15,000 students, 620 music educators, an online education web division, and a music publishing company. Web properties created under his leadership included interactive web-based music education sites that have received critical acclaim from the New York Times, CNN.com, Netscape, Yahoo, and distance learning professional organizations. Randy served as Music Industry Chair to the Florida Music Educators Association and as Secretary to the board of Dade Cultural Alliance and been recognized among Who's Who Among Outstanding Americans, received In-Focus Interactive Magazine Leadership and Visionary Award, is a professional trumpeter, and has produced large-scale events including the Federal Express Orange Bowl Half-Time, Superbowl Pre-Game, the Coconut Grove Arts Festivals Entertainment and Arts EXPO, and served as Community College Co-Chair for the Florida Sub-Committee for Film, Television, and Entertainment. DeWitt completed Broward Alliance's prestigious Senior Executive Orientation in the spring of 2006.  In 1994, Randy served as National Manager of Education for American Music, a company wholly owned by Guitar Center, Inc. where he orchestrated a successful, strategic business overhaul of the company's music learning centers. In December 2012, Randy received the PRIDE AWARD, DeVry University’s most prestigious award. Prior to PRIDE, he received DeVry University's LEGACY of SERVICE AWARD and has since been awarded the Ron Taylor Excellence in Service Award. Randy began his career at Coral Gables Senior High School, where he chaired the largest and most successful Fine Arts department in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Under his direction, the Band of Distinction received numerous local, state, and national awards. His former students  have continued on to become scholars, award winning musicians, professional athletes, educators, and community leaders.
